The Program
The goal of the Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services rehab and repair loan is to provide funding for the maintenance of homes to ensure safe and livable conditions for low-income and underserved homeowners in the Kalamazoo community.
The program allows homeowners to finance home repairs at an affordable rate.
Construction Management
Our team can evaluate your needs and provide solutions for critical repairs. We may also be able to provide assistance in financing home repairs. Some of the services we provide include:
- Property inspections
- Written assessments of needed repairs
- Management of the bidding process
- Referrals to qualified licensed and bonded contractors.
- Monitoring the project from beginning to end
Contractors
KNHS prides itself on working with quality local contractors. In order to best meet the needs of our client families and partners, KNHS continually solicits new contractors to place on our pre-qualified bidders list. If you are interested in being added to the KNHS bidder list, we encourage you to download our Contractor Handbook and return the required forms to our construction department.
To further our mission of assisting low income community residents, KNHS also gives preference to Section 3 contractors in our bidding process. All contractors interested in qualifying as Section 3 Businesses should download KNHS’s Section 3 Handbook and return the required forms.
Eligible Repairs
Each applicant’s individual home repair project is reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. But here are some examples of common repairs:
- Roof replacement
- Accessibility updates
- Siding and windows
- Eliminate health or safety hazards
