The KNHS Your Home Initiative helps local public employees put down roots, maintain their homes and build long-term financial stability right here in Kalamazoo County.
in financial assistance to purchase a home or make critical repairs to an existing home in Kalamazoo County.
The program is available to full-time and part-time employees of participating Employers in Kalamazoo County.

BUY A HOME
with Down Payment Assistance
The KNHS Your Home Initiative can help make homeownership more affordable.
Up to $20,000 in assistance.
Eligible immediately upon hire.
Household income at or below 120% AMI.
Based on financial need and available funding.
100% forgiveable assistance, subject to program requirements.
Secured by a deed restriction (5-15 years, depending on amount of assistance).
Home must be your primary residence.
KNHS homebuyer education and coaching required.
KEEP YOUR HOME
with Critical Home Repair Assistance
Get help with essential repairs that protect the health, safety, accessiblity and long-term stabity of your home.
Eligible after one year of employment.
Financial capability education and coaching may be required.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Household Income must be 120% AMI or below.
- Employees of participating partners may receive no more than $20,000 in total assistance for the DPA and/or Critical Home Repair.
- Home must be in Kalamazoo County. Client must be the homeowner and reside in the home.
- Assistance is subject to program guidelines, under writing & available funding. Other restrictions apply.
- Employees may not receive assistance more than once within a 12-month period. Exceptions may be considered by the employer.
